Reliable coating for my yacht

This isn't my first time ordering from Sea Speed. I've used their Yacht Bottom Paint twice now for my 40-foot yacht, and the consistency is what keeps me coming back. Last time I ordered the SEAPLY Primer with it, and this time I just got the coating. The product performs as advertised, significantly reducing fouling compared to traditional paints I used years ago. The customer service has always been helpful with my questions about drying time and re-application. It's a reliable choice, and I appreciate that it's an eco-friendly option without sacrificing performance. It's a bit of an investment, but it holds up well.

Good product, delivery could be faster

I recently bought a gallon of SEA-SPEED V 10 X ULTRA for my sailboat. The application was straightforward, and the non-toxic aspect was a big selling point for me. The paint seems very durable, and I'm hopeful about the fuel efficiency claims. However, the shipping took about 8 days to get to me in Florida, which felt a bit long. I understand it's a specialty product, but faster delivery options would be a nice improvement for individual buyers. Overall, a solid product that I'd likely use again, assuming I plan ahead for the shipping time.

Hey, thinking about grabbing some of the V 10 X ULTRA. I've got an aluminum hull, is this stuff safe for it? Don't want to mess up my boat.

A Amanda Mitchell 6 days ago
Yeah, it's totally safe for aluminum. Checked that out myself before I bought it. Most of their stuff is. Just make sure you prep it right.

They say on their site it works with aluminum, fiberglass, steel, everything. I think it's a pretty universal coating, just need the right primer for each material type.

Are there any promo codes or sales going on right now for the V 10 X Ultra? It's a bit pricey but I want the good stuff.

R Richard 2 weeks ago
Nah, public codes are super rare for Sea Speed. I've only ever seen them offer discounts for bulk commercial orders or like, huge fleets.

Sometimes marine service partners might have a deal, but for individuals just buying a few gallons, sales aren't really their thing. It's more of a commercial product I think.

How does Sea Speed compare to Propspeed? I'm torn between the two for my running gear.

O Olivia Allen 1 month ago
I used Sea Speed on my props last season and it worked great. Saw a definite improvement in fouling compared to regular paint. Can't speak for Propspeed personally though.

Both are good, honestly. Sea Speed is more of a hard silicone, while Propspeed is a bit different. I found Sea Speed to last longer on my props, but I know guys who swear by Propspeed. Depends on your waters too, I guess.

I'm looking at their stuff, says it's non-toxic. Is it really, like, totally safe for the environment? Or is that just marketing speak?

S Stephanie Walker 3 weeks ago
From what I understand, it's way better than traditional antifouling. No heavy metals leaching out and stuff. That's why I went with it.

Yeah, it's a hard silicone coating so it's not constantly shedding toxins like old-school paints. It's more about creating a slick surface that marine growth can't stick to easily. Pretty legit from what I've researched.

Anyone know how fast this stuff dries? Trying to plan out my boat maintenance weekend and need to figure out how long I'll be out of commission.

L Linda Phillips 2 weeks ago
It's pretty quick. I had mine dry enough to handle in a few hours, but I always give it a full day before putting it back in the water just to be safe.

Drying time depends on humidity and temperature, like most paints. But yeah, it's not like you're waiting forever. Follow their instructions for recoat times, that's more critical.
